Can I Get a Witness?
Levi Rose & the Hookerman are a down home rootsy, hippie approved duo, trio & full
band, with a whole lotta chutzpah.  They performed at White’s once before and I liked
their vibe.  Levi is younger and a whole lot sexier than the Hookerman.  He’s a road
traveled hard, long-in-tooth zen warrior with a proclivity for writing spiritual folk songs.
Pocket-sized dramas with a message.

It’s time to choose a new band of the month and we decided that the Levi Rose Band
should get it.  I had the chance to see them perform at Winston’s Pub a few weeks ago
and loved their “Hippie approved Americana music”.  They play great blues as well as
taking other well known songs and putting their own twist on it.

The Levi Rose Band - Never has the blues sounded this sweet.  Levi’s voice will take
you from sorrow to sizzle in nothing flat.  The rhythms are tight and the mood is
communal.  Lots of bands play to an audience, Levi, Hooker and the band plays for
them.

The Levi Rose Experience
"I have been asked to lay down some of my thoughts about the Levi Rose Band. My first
thought is that the name is wrong. I don't describe what they bring to the stage as "a
band" I would call it "an Experience", The Levi Rose Experience. People go to see a
band, what these two bring is something you take home with you, a life changing
experience. What else could be used to describe such a show. Levi Rose brings the soul
out like Tina Turner in Janis Joplin's shoes. Heart wrenching moans and screams to
raise the hair on the back of your neck. Willow weep for me onto good ol' Bobby McGee,
she's Big Momma Thornton in a Hippie skirt, bringing music from her heart to yours.
If that is not enough, her faithful husband stands beside keepin' the groove. Not to be
outdone by his lovin' wife he brings his own game to the stage. Vocals clear sweet like
an angel which can quickly change into a ZZ roar. No stranger to the stage than his own
name, this is a man who has been down that road and lived to tell, the blues aren't read
from a book for Hook, they are real and you can feel it when he turns it on. A recent
self-review has further done something to him and his tone. He now brings his old SG
named Ms. Scarlet back to life with a screaming vengeance of her anger from being
cased for the past years. Be it Allman Brothers, Hendrix, John Prine, or an old Irish ditty,
Hooker is a man who plays it from the heart.
Given my thoughts on both of them you can just imagine, or not, what bringing them
together has the potential to create on stage. It's the purest form of a marriage to be
found. The kind that makes you want to fall in love all over again. The coos in their eyes
back in forth show not only a love as fresh as the day it was born but also an obvious
mutual respect for each others talent that would be envied by any band. Whether at an
arena or a back patio Hooker and Levi can adapt to any crowd and bring a true musical
Experience."  -Joe Blues-

such good quality entertainment for FREE! Keep up the good work!"  Susan K.

"Hey, it's sounding great!  I'm hearing all kinds of compliments about your
sound and material tonight."  Donna   www.702bar.com
Thanks for a great night. I love music, especially if it's the sort that you can lose yourself
in. I haven't had that much fun in a long time, even though I spent most of the
night in the far corner. There's a difference between being able to feel the music in the
back of your throat because it's loud and being able to feel it because the music is
moving, if that makes any sense, and I think that tonight fell into that latter category. You
and the rest of the group did such a great job- you put your heart and soul into that
performance, and it showed in your music.
